Fall Greetings

I love fall, it is by far by absolute favorite season. Think about it, the leaves start changing colors, the weather starts to get a little cooler. There is even a hint of a chill in the early mornings. Let’s not forget about the scents of pumpkin and of course apple cider.
So I have been “itching” to pull out my fall décor and have my house smelling like Pumpkin Buttercream.  With that being said, the day before the official first day of fall I started putting away the summer décor and out came the fall.

My mother-in-law was here for a visit a couple of weeks after we first moved in and while she was here we were out shopping, I saw this big pumpkin and was admiring it. She bought it for me as a “housewarming” gift.

My sweet sister bought this pumpkin to me when she came for a visit last month.DSCN5745
I was at the Dollar store a few weeks ago and found this one. I have it sitting on top of a cabinet in the bathroom. Yes the bathroom needs to have some fall décor too. I also have some of this soap in there.

Of course I also have out my pumpkins that I got on sale last year.

I got this little basket at Goodwill for .25 about six months ago. So I put these sunflowers that my sister gave me last year into the basket.

I’ll do another post to show how I made this. Hope you all are having a great fall.

Another win for those GHS Tigers!!

Tonight the GHS Tigers J.V. Football team hosted the Marianna Bulldogs for an exciting game. At the end of the first quarter the score was tied 6 – 6. Our team was playing a good game, but I think they may have been a little too sure of themselves after last weeks win (44-0). By half time the score was Tigers 12 and the Bulldogs 14. Our guys played much better in the second half of the game. With just 2:33 left in the 3rd quarter the score is now TIGERS  26 and Bulldogs 14. By this time of the game I was on the edge of my seat wandering if those Tigers could hold those Bulldogs back and pull off another win. The final score of the games was Tigers 34 – Bulldogs 14. Tyler played so much better this week. I am so thankful for the coaches that are working with Tyler and helping him to learn the position he is playing.

So proud of my son Tyler (He’s #76), he played so hard in this game. Way to go son, you did great! Congratulations Tigers!!

A Win for the Tigers

The J.V. football team was finally able to play last night.  They were supposed to have their first game on the 30th of August, but because of bad weather the game was cancelled. Then their second game of the season was scheduled for last week (the 6th of September) as a home game. Sometime just after the opposing team arrived at our school, they received a phone call that some students from their school had been in a tragic car accident, that left three of them dead.  So with respect to the other school the game was called off and  rescheduled for a later date.

So last night Tyler & the rest of his team were beyond excited to get out on that field and play some FOOTBALL.  Let me just say right now that I enjoy watching football, I don’t really understand all the details of it though. I can say that I do know the following about football: the kickoff, touchdown, incomplete pass, interception, tackle. Other than that I am lost when it comes to the game of football. That's okay though, I still enjoy watching and cheering for my team(s).

A very welcomed visit

Last weekend was one I will cherish forever. Some of my family came for a visit. Mom, Crystal (my sister) and her two boys and my Aunt arrived at our house right around noon on Saturday. My sister surprised me with this housewarming gift. IMAG0312
After making arrangements for where everyone would be staying for the weekend, (Aunt Betty would be staying at Aunt Esther’s house which is my mom and Aunt Betty’s older sister. She lives about 15 minutes away from us. Mom, Crystal and the boys stayed with us.) we headed to Dothan to do a little retail therapy. On our way home, we saw this:logo
So of course we had to stop and get some doughnuts. DSCN5687
Once we made it back home, we got ready to go out to eat. We met my Uncle Kent (his wife Aunt Esther was at the FSU game) at Grady’s (our cousin & her husbands seafood restaurant here in Graceville) for supper.
After supper we came back to the house to relax and have some time of visiting with one another.  We played dominos and had a cup of coffee with our doughnuts.

We even got hats from Krispy Kreme. Love that Waylon let me take pictures of him with Kaelyn and his mom. Wyatt was too busy to have his picture taken.
On Sunday Waylon went to children’s church but Wyatt wanted to sit in “big church” with his momma. When church was over I went back to pick up Waylon.  When I saw him, I noticed that he had a red mark on his forehead.  I asked him what happened to his head and he told me, "well, I was kinda tired and they were talking a lot, and it was makin my brain hurt, so I laid my head down and took a nap." Got to love that boy.
After we had lunch on Sunday, Mom, Crystal, Kaelyn & the boys and I went back to Dothan. While we were driving, Wyatt informed us that "Aunt Betty's dollars live in Alabama." He had remembered that Aunt Betty’s daughter lives in Alabama. While we were at the mall, the boys were able to ride the carousel.

Then the dreaded day (Monday) came, yes the one where my family had to leave to go back home. Before they left, Chuck grilled some ribs for us and we had some potato salad, baked beans and macaroni and cheese to go with them. Crystal baked us some homemade chocolate chip cookies, yummy! Aunt Esther brought Aunt Betty back to our house so that she could catch a ride back home with them. I am so thankful that I was able to have that time with my family, but I was so sad (yes I cried while we were saying our “see you later”) that they had to go back home.
While mom was here, she was able to buy a computer for her house. Chuck got everything set up on it for her before she went back home. Then Crystal helped her get it connected to the internet. So we were able to Skype with my mom last night. So thankful that I can see her when I talk to her now.
Looking forward to visiting with my family again, but for now Skype will have to do.
