"IMB" Suspends Missionary Appointments

If you know our family, you know that we are passionate about supporting missions, especially foreign missions. Last week Chuck read an article out of the Baptist Press about the current suspension of new missionary assignments. Ever since he read this article, he has felt bothered by it and has prayed about what he could do to help spread the word and hopefully get others to join with us in helping to get these missionaries out in the mission field. Below is a letter that Chuck wrote and has sent out to numerous people. I asked if he would mind if I posted it here on my blog. I ask that you read this and pray about how God would use you to help get missionaries out in the mission field to tell the lost about Jesus.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
You may be unaware of the current suspension of new missionary assignments in the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist convention due to lack of funds. This is heartbreaking news and needs our attention NOW! We need to immediately fund our foreign missionaries and get them on the field to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Below are some excerpts from the article at the IMB website and a link to the Baptist Press article. Also there is a direct link to the IMB website so you can give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering is still ongoing and 100% of your donation goes directly to the IMB for our missionaries.Check these things out for yourself…. this is not a hoax or scam. Inform your church! If our churches, associations, Sunday School classes, youth groups, VBS, RA’s, GA’s, Awana’s, W.M.U.’s, etc. get involved in prayer, fund raising, and donating directly to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, these missionaries can be sent out. Every prayer and every penny counts.

IMB suspends short-term assignments, reduces new appointments

The suspension of new assignments to the ISC and Masters programs will take effect immediately and continue until further review in early 2010. Other short-term programs — the Journeyman Program and “2-plus-2” — will continue, but new appointments will be limited to the most strategic assignments.
Southern Baptist Convention President Johnny Hunt, who spoke at the meeting, contended Southern Baptists will respond in this crisis. “I believe that the people of God will rise to the occasion.” Increasing numbers of Southern Baptists have offered their lives for mission service in response to a call they sense from God. The number who want to go — and are qualified — keeps growing, but there are not enough funds to support them.“We must be about our Father’s business,” he (IMB treasurer David Steverson) added. “[God] has given us a task, a mission and we must remain faithful to what He has called us to do.” “It is not acceptable in my heart that we can have missionaries in the pipeline and need to tell them we can’t send them,” he (IMB treasurer David Steverson) said. **All emphasis added by me

Another School Year Completed

Today was the last day of school for Tyler and Kaelyn. They are both glad that school is out and are ready for some summer fun. Chuck decided that we should go out to eat and "celebrate" the end of the school year.

Last Friday night their school held an Awards program. Tyler got medals for; Honor Roll ( along with a certificate for maintaining a 94-100 Grade Point Average for the entire school year), Social Studies, Science, Math, and one for Academic Achievement (He had the 3rd highest GPA).

Kaelyn also received some awards. She got a certificate along with a pin for the President's Award for Educational Excellence. Kaelyn got medals for Word Building (Spelling) and Honor Roll (along with a certificate for maintaining a 94-100 Grade Point Average for the entire school year). Kaelyn was awarded a trophy for the "Soul Winners Award", this was awarded to the students who could quote the "Roman Road to Salvation".

Needless to say, Chuck and I are both very proud of the accomplishments that Tyler & Kaelyn made this year.

Happy Mother's Day!

This morning I was awakened by three people (my husband, and two kids) sitting on the bed saying, "Happy Mother's Day, it's time to get up!" Let me just say I was so tired, I opened my eyes looked at them and closed my eyes back (I really just wanted to lay there and keep on sleeping), I told them to give me just a minute and I would get up. True to my word, I got up and went into the kitchen where they were waiting on me. When I walked in I was then wished again, a Happy Mother's Day. What I say brought tears to my eyes. The table was set, with my breakfast of bacon, biscuits & gravy already on my plate (in the form of a face) and much needed coffee in one of my favorite coffee cups.

There was also flowers in a vase (they picked them while I was out with my mom and sister yesterday, then put them in a vase of water and stored them in a cardboard box at the end of Tyler's bed) and finally a homemade banner taped to the wall wishing me a Happy Mother's Day.

I know the banner is a little bit hard to see in this picture (they used crayons), at the top it says "I Love You" with lots of hearts and xoxo and flowers. Then Happy Mother's Day! Love, Tyler, Kaelyn and Chuck.

You see normally I get cards and a hug and then lunch out. Today was really special and it has lasted all day. They took me out for lunch, I was able to come home and take a nap (uninterrupted at that) and then my wonderful husband grilled steaks for our supper. After supper I was surprised with a store bought cheesecake (my husband doesn't make desserts) and them singing "Happy Mother's Day to You" to the tune of Happy Birthday. I have been wonderfully surprised all day and couldn't have asked for any better of a day. It still would have been a great day even if they had not done all that for me. I love my family so much and am so thankful for the husband that God has blessed me with. He has also blessed me with two wonderful children.

To all the Mom's I wish you a very heartfelt Happy Mother's Day! May God bless each of you.

Mother's Day Out

Today is a day that I can honestly say that I look forward to all year. My Mom, Sister and I got together for our annual "Mother's Day Out". This is something that we have been doing for several years. Us "Mom's" get together without the kids or husbands and just spend the day together. Every year we find something new to do.

Today we were up early to go treat ourselves to much needed pedicures. I'm sure that my feet were so thankful to be pampered. We all ended up with "pretty feet". Crystal decided to have a "french pedicure", Mom went with a light color and I opted for a bright pink.

When we were finished with our pedicures we headed to the Ivy House for a delicious lunch, and some yummy desserts. We each ordered a different dessert and had a taste of each one. Crystal ordered the vanilla milk cake, which I will have to say was very good, Mom had the banana cream cake, it was good too, (I think I would have liked it better if it didn't have nuts on it) and I ordered the strawberry delight, it was also good. Out of the three I would have to say that I liked the milk cake the best. When we finished our lunch we made our way upstairs to the gift shop to "browse", there sure were a lot of pretty things up there.

When we left the Ivy House we stopped in at an antique store to have a look. We did find some treasures. Mom bought me this cute necklace and earring set, (thanks Mom!!), she also bought a cute little step stool that the grandbabies can use when they are at her house and Crystal got a really neat looking mixing bowl. We were all happy with the treasures that we found.

As usual we laughed a lot and had so much fun. I am looking forward to the next time I can have a day to spend with my mom and my sister. We don't get to have very many days where it is just the three of us, so I treasure those times that we do have together. Happy Mother's Day!
