I am now officially the mother of a teenager. That's right our son is now 13. I have no idea where the time has gone. It just doesn't seem like he should be that old already. The night before his birthday, I was writing him a little note in his birthday card and just broke down and started crying. You know I have less time with him at home with us now than what I have had him for in the past. In no time at all I will be sending him off to college, and actually that thought scares me to death. However, I do know that is what we as parents are called to do, give them love, guidance and nurture them. Then the day will come when it is time to let him go and make a life for himself. I am praying that the Lord will start preparing me for that day now. I am excited to see what all God will do in and through my son. I thank God for giving me such a great son.
So for his birthday, we decided to have a little celebration with just the four of his. Okay, so please don't think of me as a bad mom I didn't make Tyler's birthday cake, we went to Publix and he picked out his own cake. I must say that this cake was very good, it was a chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting. I know chocolate overload, but when you have just a small slice it isn't really considered to be "overload". We were able to get out of town for a few days. Thanks to my in-laws for letting us use their condo for a quick getaway. We plan to do some swimming, walking trails, fishing, relaxing and more swimming. Most of all I am grateful to have this time with my family.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER! I love you so very much.
Whoa! A teenager? OH MY!!! Our pastor did a sermon yesterday on passing the baton to the next generation...it was very moving. I know you are doing a great job of passing the baton of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ with Tyler!
ReplyDeleteTyler is a teenager?!?!?! Wow, I am pretty sure I remember when he was born...a baby, teeny-tiny and not one bit the TEENAGER he is today.
ReplyDeleteGirl, I am so not saying a word about you not making his birthday cake. I sure didn't make Allie's. Praise the Lord, CJ will still make a cake for her girl!
I don't even want to think about my girls turning the big 1-3! Yikes!!! Your son looks like he is a sweetie with a heart for the Lord!
